Goldstone Resources: reopening a gold mine with a historical grade of 24 g/t?

Goldstone Resources (GRL.L) has initiated an investigation to figure out if it could reopen the old Akrokeri mine, located on the prospecting license with the same name. This mine was in production for 5 years between 1904 and 1909 before it had to be shut down due to water inflow, but during those five years, approximately 75,000 ounces of gold were recovered from 104,000 tonnes of rock. This indicates the average grade of this mine was approximately 24 g/t of gold, so it could definitely be interesting to use some modern exploration tools to figure out what's left in the ground.

The mine consisted of two old shafts, reaching a depth of just 152 meters tracking the quartz vein which - according to the historical information - was approximately 1.2 meters wide. That's enough to get people excited, and Goldstone is currently having a closer look at all data after it was able to secure 5,200 meters of core drilled by two previous operators in 1996 and 2008.
