(IDEX Online) - Debbie Azar, co-founder of Gemological Science International (GSI), took to the radio waves recently, participating in interviews on "The Ultimate Gift of Love: Diamonds - What to Know Before Making Those Sparkling Holiday Purchases", the GSI said.

Azar reached approximately 7.7 million listeners and appeared on 286 radio broadcast airings (some live, some syndicated) across the United States with messaging on what made diamonds and diamond jewelry the perfect holiday gifts for the 2017 season. Azar gave advice on how consumers can make the best, educated purchase of diamonds and diamond jewelry and stressed the importance of obtaining a grading report from a legitimate, reliable gem laboratory like GSI.

"We all need to do our part to ensure our product messaging reaches consumers during the all important, if not critical, holiday season," said Azar. "GSI is proud to do our part to educate consumers, romance our products and most importantly - drive customers into those retail jewelry stores each year."

Azar was asked questions on many of the industry's hottest topics including synthetics - and the difference between lab grown and natural diamonds - as well as the status of the conflict diamonds issue and what the industry has done successfully to curtail this issue.

Azar took the opportunity to tell listeners about the beneficial, charitable and positive initiatives the jewelry industry has developed and conducts throughout the world, including making specific mention of Jewelers for Children. Azar spoke about the good that diamonds do globally stating, "Countless numbers of jobs have been created as a result of the diamond business, many hospitals have been built voluntarily by members of our industry and we have developed clean water initiatives in areas that would never have had otherwise - amongst so many other amazing things. This is an industry that truly and sincerely gives back."
