Heilongjiang Zijin copper smelter to be commissioned on August 18

Zijin Mining's 150,000-tonne-per-year copper smelter in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province will be commissioned on Sunday August 18, sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Fastmarkets.

"The igniting of the new furnace is set for August 18 and raw material will be fed into the smelter from September," one source said. Construction of the smelter began in May 2017 and it has capacity to produce 150,000 tonnes of copper cathode, 600,000 tonnes of sulfuric acid, 3 tonnes of gold and 50 tonnes of silver per year....
