High tin prices underpin year-to-date profits for major producers MSC, PT Timah

The second- and third-largest tin producers in the world, PT Timah and the Malaysian Smelting Corporation (MSC), both reported strong financial results for the nine-month period to September 2021 on record-high tin prices.

In the January-September period of 2021, the London Metal Exchange Tin Cash price averaged $30,039 per tonne, nearly doubling the average of $16,556 per tonne from the same period last year. 
In the three months to September, meanwhile, the LME Tin Cash price was at an average of $34,823 per tonne.
