Hydro's Alunorte signs agreements with Brazilian authorities, moves closer to resuming full production

Norsk Hydro's Alunorte alumina refinery in the northern Brazilian state of Par?? has signed two agreements with local authorities, representing a significant step toward the facility resuming full production, the Norwegian aluminium producer said on Thursday September 6.

The deals, signed on Wednesday between Alunorte, Brazilian federal and state prosecutors as well as the Par?? state government and environmental authority, included payments for the social development of local communities, food cards for families living in the hydrographic area of the Murucupi River and "certain technical improvements", Hydro said."This is a milestone towards resuming normal operation at Alunorte.
