Production at Norsk Hydro's Paragominas bauxite mine in the Brazilian state of Par?? has resumed following the repair of an overturned transmission tower, allowing the Alunorte alumina refinery to ramp up, the Norwegian company said on Saturday December 28.
Bauxite and, consequently, alumina production had been restricted since December 19, when a transmission tower at Paragominas fell and power supply to the plant was cut. Alunorte's capacity was then reduced to 50-70%."There were no personnel injuries, damages to other production assets...
