(Kitco News) - IAMGOLD (TSX: IMG) (NYSE:IAG) today announced an initial mineral resource estimate for the Gosselin zonediscovery, centered approximately 1.5 kilometres northeast of the C??t?(C) Goldconstruction project, located in Ontario, Canada.
According to the company'sstatement, the mineral resource estimate for the Gosselin deposit comprises 124.5million tonnes of indicated resources averaging 0.84 grams of gold per tonnefor 3.35 million ounces of gold; and 72.9 million tonnes of inferred resourcesaveraging 0.73 grams of gold per tonne for 1.71 million ounces of gold.
Craig MacDougall, ExecutiveVice President, Growth for IAMGOLD, added, "We believe that the Gosselindeposit will continue to enhance the long term value and district-scalepotential of the C??t?(C) Gold project. The Gosselin deposit remains open alongstrike to the northeast and has only been drilled to approximately half the depthof the C??t?(C) Gold deposit itself, so there remains significant potential tofurther expand total resources."
