INDIA IMPORT SCRAP: Prices down by $15 per tonne as trading picks up

Prices for ferrous scrap imported into India moved down again this week after several deals were heard at lower prices, setting a fresh year-to-date low, sources told Fastmarkets on Friday September 13.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel scrap, shredded, index, import, cfr Nhava Sheva, India, was $262.71 per tonne on Friday, down by $15.29 per tonne from $278 per tonne one week ago.This week, bids and offers for shredded scrap into India were reported at $255-275 per tonne cfr, down from $265-$290 per tonne cfr last week.Deals this week were heard at $260 and $264 per tonne cfr Nhava Sheva, compared with the latest deals two weeks ago at $290-292 per tonne cfr.Many market participants reported a small shift in sentiment this week, with a...
