INDIA IMPORT SCRAP: Prices rebound on improved demand from mills

Prices for ferrous scrap imported in containers into India inched upward this week, with good demand from mills combining with firm finished steel markets in the country, sources said on Friday February 9.

Solid demand in the country prevented a sharper drop in Indian import prices last week, at a time when the Turkish import market was weakening more acutely.But with the Turkish market reversing with new bulk scrap bookings heard on Thursday, scrap exporters to India have sensed the chance to raise their offer prices for material arriving into Nhava Sheva.Metal Bulletin's weekly index for containerized imports of shredded scrap into India was $368.52 per tonne cfr Nhava Sheva on February 9, up by $2.36 per tonne from...
