India's bullish ferro-chrome market buoys Japanese, South Korean prices

The ongoing strong performance in India's ferro-chrome market has been a tailwind for the Japanese and South Korean markets, with suppliers pushing up their offer prices even though these had not yet fed into confirmed business, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets' fortnightly price assessment for ferro-chrome, high carbon, 57-65% Cr, cif dup Japan ticked up to $0.68-0.72 per lb on Thursday, up by 2.2% from $0.67-0.70 per lb on August 13.
Similarly, Fastmarkets' fortnightly price assessment for ferro-chrome, high carbon, 57-65% Cr, cif dup South Korea rose to $0.67-0.70 per lb on Thursday, up by 3% from $0.65-0.68 per lb on August 13.
"We are getting higher offers from India, who are now taking a firm position," one South Korean buyer said.
