(IDEX Online) - A young Indian jeweler has smashed the Guinness World Record for the most diamonds set in one ring - a dazzling 12,638.

Harshit Bansal, 25, took the title from another Indian jeweler, Kotti Srikanth, whose 7,801-diamond ring was officially recognized in September 2020.

Harshit, founder of Renani Jewels in Meerut, said he was inspired to set a new record while studying jewelry design in Surat, in 2018.

The ring, which goes by two names - The Marigold and The Ring of Prosperity - has a circular band with an ornate eight-layered floral design.

The total weight of natural diamonds is 38.08 carats. The entire creation weighs just over 165 grams (5.8 oz) - a little heavy for day-to-day wear.
