INSG sees global nickel demand of 2.34 million mt in 2018

SHANGHAI, Apr 26 (SMM) – Global demand for nickel is likely to rise to 2.34 million mt in 2018 from 2.19 million in 2017, the International Nickel Study Group (INSG) said on Wednesday April 25.

The group forecast the global nickel output to increase to 2.23 million mt in 2018 from 2.08 million mt in 2017.

SMM expects China to consume 1.22 million mtof nickel and to produce 817,000 mt in 2018. In 2017, China consumed 1.17 million mt of nickel and produced 673,000 mt.
