INTL LEAD & ZINC CONF: New Century targets fast-track zinc-lead output in optimised tailings project

Junior miner New Century Resources plans to bolster its large-scale tailings operation in Australia, which reprocesses zinc and lead, through the use of advanced technology and logistics, the company told delegates at Fastmarkets' International Lead & Zinc conference on Monday April 15.

The Century mine, located in the state of Queensland about 250km northwest of Mount Isa, is an open-pit mine which yields zinc, lead and silver. It began production in 1999 but was closed in December 2015 by former owner MMC, due to depletion of ore reserves.After it was bought by Australian Securities Exchange-listed New Century, operations at the mine restarted in the fourth quarter of 2018, with its first shipment sent out in November.During its 16 years of operation before the closure, the Century...
