Iran semi, finished steel Q1 output up despite drop in export volumes

Iranian steelmakers produced 7.14 million tonnes of semi-finished products in the first three months of the current Iranian year - March 20 to June 20 - up by 3% annually, the latest Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) report said on July 19.

Higher steel slab output reached 3.02 million tonnes in the first quarter, up by 12% year on year, which drove a lot of the reported growth, while steel billet and bloom output accounted for 4.12 million tonnes, down by 3% from 2019.
As for finished steel, output increased by 1% year on year to reach 5.33 million tonnes, ISPA said.
Flat steel products accounted for 2.67 million tonnes of Iran's first-quarter output, down 1% from last year, with hot-rolled coil production making up 2.3 million tonnes after output in this sector rose 1% rise year on year, ISPA data showed.
