Iranian billet prices slide on rising freight cost, slab surges in latest booking

Export prices for steel billet from Iran slipped over the week to Wednesday June 16, with sellers having to compensate for rising freight costs because end-customers were not ready to accept higher prices, Fastmarkets has learnt.

One Iranian producer sold 30,000 tonnes of billet at $628 per tonne fob southern ports of Iran. The cargo was destined for Asia, according to market sources.
Another supplier finalized one deal for a cargo of billet at $635 per tonne fob southern ports and was now looking for $640 per tonne fob.
