Hebrew/NatYigal Amir, the student who assassinated Israeli Premier Yitzhak Rabin, says he's on a hunger strike to protest at his prison conditions.Amir, bearded and thin, announced the fast when he appeared in court in Tel Aviv Wednesday, accused of conspiring to kill the Prime Minister, who he shot at a peace rally last November.Amir alone has already been convicted and jailed for carrying out the killing.Yigal Amir, his brother, Hagai, and friend, Dror Adani, were at the Tel Aviv District Court for the first day of a trial.They face various conspiracy and weapon charges.The charge sheet said the three men had considered killing Rabinwith a car bomb or by drilling a hole in the water pipe in the Prime Minister's house and inserting nitro-glycerine explosive.Yigal Amir has already been convicted of the murder and sentenced to life plus six years in prison.The three accused - all Jewish extremists opposed to Rabin's peace policy -are also charged with conspiring to kill Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
