Jaguar Land Rover to cut jobs at UK sites

Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) will cut up to 1,100 employees in the UK, while posting a pre-tax loss amid the coronavirus pandemic, it announced on Monday June 15 in its financial results.

The company took the decision to reduce the number of contract-agency employees in its manufacturing plants over the coming months against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, it said.
A company spokesperson expects up to 1,100 temporary-agency employees to be affected and has plans to review all UK manufacturing sites but production will not be affected, they told Fastmarkets .
In its fourth-quarter results ending March 31, 2020, the company reported a pre-tax loss of ?501 million as a result a 30.9% drop in unit sales amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
