James Bay reality and potential rare earths mania

In his May 22nd broadcast, John Kaiser updates Midland Exploration's (MD) Mythril project which has implications for nearby area plays hosted by Azimut Exploration (AZM), 92 Resources (NTY) and Quebec Precious Metal (CJC). Midland released initial drilling results from 10 holes on May 16th.

In the third and final segment of the show, Mr. Kaiser assesses the implications for rare earths if China makes a move for Taiwan to secure semi-conductor supply.

Kaiser explains that at Mythril the market was looking for a large body drill result indicating the potential for a 100 million tonne body with a 1% copper grade. That would have given the green light for a great Canadian exploration play in the region. However, the results fell short, with the best hole returning 12.5 meters of 1% copper plus gold and silver credits. The others were sub-economic. Nevertheless, these are early days in project exploration and Midland will be going back into the Mythril field in June with 5,000 meters of new drill targets based on the information gathered from the May results.

Kaiser believes the results indicate that the system has been intruded by a granodiorite system, which has been invaded by granitic and barren pegmatite dykes.

The granodiorite body is mineralized, and the higher grade seems to be associated with these dykes which have a somewhat richer grade. So, you get this variability of grade.

At this point, Mr. Kaiser believes the results do signal the edge of a mineralized copper system with some high grades. Now the question is whether these results mean something big can still be found in the area. That will require more drilling, with the next program drilling towards the west near the Azimut Pikwa project, and to the south closer to the 92 Resources optioned FCI project, in addition to other targets.

92 Resources will be presenting in Mr. Kaiser's segment of the Metal's Investor Forum this Saturday which investors can attend for free if they pre-register here.

In the second segment, Mr. Kaiser updates Scandium International Mining (SCY).

In the third segment Kaiser address whether rare earths mining is set for a comeback in light of trade tensions between China and the United States. Mr. Kaiser raises the prospect of China annexing Taiwan to secure microchip supply, an action which could result in an export embargo of some important rare earths. In terms of juniors in the space, he is keeping an eye on Namibia Critical Metals (NMI). It is currently focusing on a cobalt project, but NMI also has the Lofdal Heavy Rare Earths project which could come back into play if geo-political tensions flare up.
