JAPAN STEEL SCRAP: Sales prices move down amid buy-side nerves

Momentum has faded in the Japanese steel scrap export market following six straight weeks of increases, with buyers stepping away from closing sales, sources told Fastmarkets this week.

Japan scrap export prices fell over the last week in the markets for H2 heavy scrap and Shindachi busheling, while tags for shredded and heavy scrap or plate and structural (P&S) material remained more stable.
Fastmarkets' price assessment for steel scrap H2, export, fob main port Japan was ?42,500-43,500 ($391-400) per tonne on Wednesday, down ?500 per tonne from ?43,000-44,000 per tonne week on week.
Japanese H1:H2 (50:50) was heard bid at $430 per tonne cfr Taiwan on Wednesday, down from $450-455 per tonne cfr last week.
