RAPAPORT... Jared will offer free virtual weddings to 1,000 couples who had to cancel or postpone their events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The jeweler will begin holding the ceremonies, which are part of its #LoveCantWait campaign, at the end of May, it said Monday. The Signet Jewelers-owned banner will allow the couples to design a customized wedding, including selecting their own date, theme and background; designing and managing their e-invites and guest list; and designating speakers and an officiant of their choice to perform the ceremony. The company will also give a memento of the event to the couple and their guests as a keepsake."We've learned that countless couples across the nation who've been impacted still want to celebrate their wedding day in a big way, but need support to bring their special moment to life," said Bill Brace, Signet's chief marketing officer and executive general manager for Jared. "We are a brand that stands for helping our customers celebrate life and express love, so we are stepping up during these unprecedented times to do our part to bring joy to 1,000 couples. We believe love can't and shouldn't wait."Jared's platform supports up to 100 devices per ceremony, and the weddings are legal in states that allow online ceremonies, the company noted. The #LoveCantWait campaign will feature on all of Jared's social-media channels, as well as a national television campaign.Image: The virtual wedding of Jillian and Josh. (Jared.com)
