RAPAPORT... JCK Las Vegas has been postponed until late August, giving the organizers a better chance of holding the event in its usual physical form."After a year without an opportunity for the jewelry community to gather, it is important to JCK to facilitate an in-person event in the most positive and safe way possible," JCK said in a statement Monday. Both the main JCK fair and the Luxury show will run from August 27 to 30 at the Venetian Resort & Sands Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. The invitation-only part of Luxury will take place from August 24 to 26. This schedule is "the best path forward to reunite the jewelry industry in 2021," organizers said. JCK called off last year's shows due to the coronavirus, replacing them with a virtual event. It had initially planned the 2021 in-person edition for June 4 to 7. However, with the virus still spreading across the US, the outlook for large events in the first half of the year is uncertain.Elsewhere, the Hong Kong diamond and jewelry shows scheduled for March have already been postponed to July, while HourUniverse - Baselworld's successor - has been pushed back from April to the summer."We know our industry is eager to come together again, and we are excited to bring many new opportunities in 2021 to source, connect, learn and, ultimately, conduct business on and off the show floor before, during and after JCK and Luxury," JCK said.
