Jewelers Foil Bid to Sell Stolen Diamond Worth $95,000

(IDEX Online) - A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to sell a stolen 9.46-carat diamond ring to a jewelry store in Georgia, USA.Staff say they've been able to return the ring to its rightful owner, a 90-year-old woman.They were offered the $95,000 piece noticed the name and address he gave didn't match those on the certificate. They called the police and kept him talking.In a Facebook Post, Celestial Jewelers in Acworth, said: "There is a 90-year-old lady that is super happy she is getting her ring back! So glad we could help recover such an important heirloom!"Police said: "The store owners were able to locate a phone number of the owner and discovered that the diamond was stolen out of Chattanooga, Tennessee."After further investigating, officers verified this through Chattanooga, Tennessee that the diamond was stolen."A 41-year-old man has been charged with theft by bringing stolen property into the state, receiving stolen property greater than $1,500, and two drugs offences.Pic shows the ring.
