Jingchuan produces first nickel-chloride yield for EV battery market

Chinese multi-metal company Jingchuan Group produced the first batch of nickel chloride from its newly-commissioned high-end nickel salt project on Sunday February 9.

The size of the first nickel-chloride yield was not stipulated but the resultant material constitutes part of the group's efforts to ramp up battery-grade nickel production for the much-lauded electric vehicle (EV) boom, according to Aaron Cao in 2017 when the project was first announced.

The project at Jingchuan nickel mine in Gansu province, China, has an aggregate production capacity of 35,000 tonnes per year, which is divided between 30,000 tonnes...
