RAPAPORT... BlueRock Diamonds, which owns the Kareevlei mine in South Africa, has sold a 24.98-carat rough diamond for $190,000. The diamond is the largest the company has found from Kareeevlei, signalling potential for other high-value recoveries, chairman Mike Houston said last week. "We continue to make excellent progress implementing our development strategy to increase production and are clearly seeing the impact of higher throughput being achieved, reflected in the number of high-value stones we continue to produce," he added. The average price of $7,606 per carat achieved for the stone was well above previous sales at the mine. BlueRock sold 1,847 carats of diamonds for an average of $371 per carat during the first quarter of 2019. Image: The 24.98-carat diamond from Kareevlei. (BlueRock Diamonds)
