(IDEX Online) - The Kimberley Process is urging Russia to immediately ends its war in Ukraine.
In a strongly-worded statement the Kimberley Process Civil Society Coalition (KP CSC) also called on governments and the diamond industry to make sure that diamonds from Russia do not finance the conflict.
The coalition also urges KP chair Botswana to call a special plenary meeting to that end.
It says it is "is gravely concerned with the deteriorating human rights situation in Ukraine following the invasion of the country by the Russian Federation".
It continues: "We strongly condemn all violations of human rights and international humanitarian law and call on the Russian Federation to immediately and unconditionally end its aggression.
"We ???,? ? call upon governments, industry and the Kimberley Process (KP) Certification Scheme to ascertain that diamonds produced in Russia or by Russia's state-owned diamond miner Alrosa do not contribute to financing conflict."
