Langer Heinrich halts uranium production

The long nuclear energy winter since Fukushima early this decade has claimed another uranium mine, with Paladin Energy reporting the 75%-owned Langer Heinrich operation in Namibia is being put on care and maintenance.

The major operation will be progressively shut and cleaned over the next few months, bringing to an end over 10 years of production that began when the uranium price was at levels of US$100 per pound and above.
