Latin American crude steel output down 14% in October, Alacero says

Latin American crude steel output decreased by 14% year on year in October due to slower global economic growth and blast furnace outages in Brazil, regional steelmakers' association Alacero said on Tuesday December 3.

Production reached approximately 4.9 million tonnes in October compared with about 5.67 million tonnes in the same month last year. Output for the first 10 months of 2019 totaled 50.9 million tonnes, down by 8% year on year from 55.34 million tonnes.

The region produced 4.06 million tonnes of rolled steel in October, a 12% decrease from roughly 4.6 million tonnes one year...
