(IDEX News) - Two villages near the Leo Schachter factory in Botswana now have a direct, consistent, and sustainable water system, funded by Leo Schachter Diamonds and Borsheims' Kalahari Dream sales.
Kalahari Dream diamonds are sourced by Leo Schachter Diamonds and are being sold by two leading jewelry retailers, Borsheims in Omaha, NE, and Boston, MA-based Long's Jewelers.
"Millennials and their younger Gen Z siblings are the most socially-aware shoppers in retail history," Leo Schachter Diamonds said in a statement. "These bridal-age, community-minded consumers demand both authenticity and responsibility from the brands they do business with, and they want to know that the products they buy also do good for the people who create them.
"4.2 million Millennials and Gen Z will get married every year. When they're shopping for a diamond, 'conflict-free' is just the point of entry: these consumers want more than just reassurances that their diamonds do no harm: they want to know their diamond purchase is going to help make the world a better place.
"Kalahari Dream diamonds are sourced from reputable southern African diamond mining companies who adhere to stringent ecological and social criteria. As these diamonds travel through southern Africa on their journey from the mine to the jeweler's counter, they help to support and foster beneficial relationships with local communities. 'Unearth A Diamond, Uplift A Community' is the brand's tagline."
Borsheims is helping two drought-impacted villages in Botswana and saving rhinos through the sale of its Kalahari Dream Diamonds collection (pictured above).
Also, a portion of proceeds from sales of Borsheims' exclusive Rhino Pendant, each of which features a 0.10-carat rough Kalahari Dream Diamond, goes to support the Care for the Wild Rhino Sanctuary in South Africa.
"Stories like these greatly resonate with consumers when the branded diamond they're considering represents not only their personal relationship but also a compelling story about doing good and giving back. This enhances the perception of value and makes consumers feel even better about their purchase decisions, while also offering the authorized Kalahari Dream diamond retail jeweler a unique product that can't be comparison-shopped online."
Kalahari Dream diamonds are GIA certified, hand-selected and polished by Leo Schachter master diamond artisans with Triple X/Ideal parameters in rounds from 0.50 carat up. Each is laser-inscribed with a unique identification number and the Kalahari Dream logo.
In addition to the Kalahari Dream, among the many initiatives Leo Schachter supports are the Bana ba Kelesto Orphanage, school, and child care program and the Scottish Livingstone Hospital in Molepolole, Botswana.
In keeping with United Nations statistics showing that gender equality and empowerment of women is crucial to sustainable development, 90% of the employees at Leo Schachter's facility in Botswana are women. Closer to home, Leo Schachter is a leading sponsor of the Diamond Empowerment Fund and Jewelers For Children.
