Liberty Ostrava increases steel prices by ?,?20 per tonne, announces production cuts

Czech steelmaker Liberty Ostrava is increasing its steel prices by ?,?20 ($23) per tonne to partially offset an increase in production costs, the company told Fastmarkets on Tuesday July 16.

"Recent increases in raw materials and energy costs and the prevailing steel prices in Europe necessitate an immediate response to avoid further margin squeezes for our steel business," the company said.Owned by LIberty Steel, the Ostrava steelworks produces flat steel products, including hot-rolled coil, cold-rolled coil and long steel products.Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel hot-rolled coil domestic, exw Central Europe was ?,?465-475 per tonne ex-works on July 10, compared with ?,?465-480 per tonne ex-works a week earlier.
