LIVE FUTURES REPORT 07/01: LME zinc price gains top complex in thin trading day; Al closes above $1,800/t

The three-month zinc price on the London Metal Exchange climbed by 1.3% by the close of trading on Tuesday January 7, topping gains in the complex amid moderately low turnover across the board, while the aluminium price shed 1% of over the afternoon.

Zinc's outright price on the LME closed at $2,346 per tonne this afternoon, its highest closing price since November 18, 2019. Despite low turnover over the day's trading - copper was the most traded at 12,000 lots at the close - LME zinc's trading volumes were at their highest since December 13 last year, with some 8,700 lots exchanged by the close.
