LIVE FUTURES REPORT 14/12: Nickel price up 1.7% in broad uptick

Nickel's three-month price was the star performer on Monday December 14 on the London Metal Exchange, rising by 1.7% at the 5pm close compared with Friday, on a day when the majority of the base-metals complex showed price rises of more than 1%.

Nickel rose by 1.7% on Monday, the highest among the complex, to $17,590 per tonne from Friday's closing price of $17,278 per tonne.The metal also once more set a new year-to-date high during early trading on Monday, of $17,780 per tonne.It has set a new 2020 high every day since December 9, when the intraday high was $16,845 per tonne. It has gone up by 4.4% since then.Nickel reacted positively on Monday to automotive manufacturing data out of China, showing that car sales increased by 12.5% in November year on year, while demand for new energy vehicles (NEVs) was expected to rise by 30% overall in 2020.China expected to sell 1.8 million NEVs next...
