LIVE FUTURES REPORT 15/12: Copper, lead rise; nickel fails to hold at new 2020 high

LME base metals prices were mixed on Tuesday December 15, with three-month copper and lead prices rising, while nickel fell below Monday's close despite setting a new year-to-date high earlier in the day.

Nickel's three-month price failed to hold at the new year-to-date high of $17,880 per tonne reached during the day and fell back to $17,557 per tonne by 5pm - 0.2% lower than Monday's closing price of $17,590 per tonne. The previous high for 2020 was set on Monday when the price peaked at $17,780 per tonne.Lead also inched higher on Tuesday and by 5pm was up by 1.1% at $2,052 per tonne compared with Monday's close of $2,029 per tonne.
