LIVE FUTURES REPORT 23/12: Nickel bucks downtrending SHFE base metals

Base metals prices on the Shanghai Futures Exchange mostly softened during morning trading on Monday December 23, with the exception of the most-traded nickel contract, which bucked the trend with a 1.6% increase.

Most investors stayed on the sidelines despite a partial resolution of the trade war between China and the United States.
On Sunday, the Chinese finance ministry said it would lower tariffs on products from the United States ranging from frozen pork and avocado to some types of semiconductors next year.
