Prices for base metals dropped in morning trading on Wednesday November 4, after Donald Trump said he plans to contest the result of the incomplete and already uncertain presidential election in the United States.

Aluminium, nickel and copper had all dropped by 1% or more as of 8:20 UK time with votes still being counted in a US presidential race that looks set to go down to the wire and in which as yet unproven allegations of vote rigging have started to be lobbed by the incumbent Trump.
"This is a fraud on the American public... we were getting ready to win this election, frankly, we did win this election," Trump said in an address to supporters and press at the White House, adding that he would ask America's Supreme Court to intervene on vote counting.
