LME base metals futures show modest gains; aluminium above $2,600 again

Modest gains were seen in base metals futures prices at the 5pm close of trading on the London Metal Exchange on Monday November 8 because of a weaker US Dollar Index, which supported price increases.

Aluminium led the gains, its price increasing by almost 2% to $2,605.00 per tonne, up from $2,556.50 per tonne at Friday's 5pm close. This rise followed a 5% decline in the three-month price for the light metal last week.
Monday was a low trading day in terms of volumes, with only 14,366 lots traded, down from the weekly average of 20,242 lots last week.

Elsewhere in the LME base metals complex, the three-month nickel price increased by 1% to $19,640 per tonne, up from $19,434 per tonne at Friday's 5pm...
