The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) will revise its performance standard to align with the London Metal Exchange's responsible sourcing requirements, Marieke van der Mijn, director of impacts and partnerships at ASI said on Thursday October 22.

Speaking at the exchange's focus day during LME Week van der Mijn explained: "ASI is working closely with the LME to align the ASI guidance and standards with the LME's responsible sourcing requirements."
"We are revising our performance standard and chain for customer standard and hoping to be a 'Track A' recognized standard," van der Mijn added.
ASI is a global non-profit standards-setting and certification organization whose intention is to bring together market participants along the aluminium supply chain to focus on sustainable production and sourcing.

The LME's requirements for responsible sourcing will be underpinned by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) due diligence guidance.
