RAPAPORT... Lucapa Diamond Company has recovered three more 100-carat-plus rough diamonds at its Lulo alluvial mine in Angola, it said Monday. The company found a 131-carat, D-color, type IIa diamond, a brown diamond weighing 118 carats and a 133-carat lower-quality grey diamond at the site's high-value Mining Block 46. That section, which is located along the Canguige tributary, also produced a 114-carat, D-color, type IIa stone earlier this month, as well as 104- and 113-carat diamonds in January. The recent discoveries have made Mining Block 46 the location with the strongest occurrence rate of diamonds over 100 carats, Lucapa said. The miner has been exploring the area located just upstream of the mining block as well, in the hope of locating the kimberlite source of its stones.Lucapa also unearthed another two large white diamonds from the area, weighing 64.19 and 53.80 carats. The company's stock rose 5% in early trading Monday following the announcement.Image: The three plus 100-carat diamonds and the two plus 50-carat diamonds.
