(IDEX Online) - Candy brand M&M's has created lab grown diamonds made from peanut butter for American footballers who miss out on the Super Bowl rings presented to the winning team.Three "almost champions" - Dan Marino, Terrell Owens and Bruce Smith - will receive "Almost Champions Ring of Comfort", designed with a hidden replica of a football stadium that houses a single Peanut Butter M&M."The largest individual diamonds on the face of the first ever M&M'S peanut butter turned diamond ring were created by exposing this common household staple to a high-pressure environment - including 3,000 ?C temperatures and 800,000 pounds per square inch of pressure - before grinding and grading the diamonds into their final form," said M&M's in a press release.Diamonds were first produced from peanut butter in 2014. Dan Frost, professor of experimental geosciences at the Bayerisches Geoinstitut, in Germany, managed to grow a very small diamond after extracting carbon from peanut butter. It was a long and messy process, he said, but it worked.Pic courtesy M&M's.
