Major-General Louis James Lipsett was "arguably the best" of the Canadian divisional commanders, claimed historian Daniel George Dancocks, and probably the most popular with the men in the ranks (historian Desmond Morton OC CD FRSC). His former battalion, the 8th Battalion (90th Winnipeg Rifles), requested, and were given the honours of burying their former commander at Queant Communal Cemetery British Extension on 15th October, 1918. In attendance, General Sir Henry Sinclair Horne, General Sir Arthur Currie and the Prince of Wales.
