Malaysian rebar ready to be sold to Singapore after Alliance Steel achieves quality certification

Malaysian rebar is ready to be sold into Singapore after a major Malaysian producer Alliance Steel achieved Cares certification, market sources told Fastmarkets.

"A major trading company had previously applied for the certification so that [it could] import Malaysian rebar into Singapore," a source told Fastmarkets on Friday June 14.The Cares certification will allow major buyers in Singapore to diversify their supply base and buy rebar from Alliance Steel, which will enable them to benefit from shorter lead times and simpler logistics compared with importing materials from Turkey, India or Qatar, market sources said.Alliance Steel is located in Kuantan, Malaysia, less than 350km by road from Singapore.Alliance Steel has achieved four Cares certifications covering the production of hot-rolled steel billets and steel bars for the reinforcement...
