Manganese ore prices edge up but reprieve seen temporary with inventories at new high

Seaborne manganese ore prices for both grades rose by more than 1% in the week ended Friday November 22 after sentiment improved in response to rises in the domestic port-side market.

Fastmarkets' manganese ore index, 37% Mn, cif Tianjin climbed by 1.2% or 4 cents week on week to $3.32 per dry metric tonne unit (dmtu) on Friday.
Fastmarkets' calculation of the index for manganese ore, 37% Mn, fob Port Elizabeth rose by 5 cents week on week to $2.66 per dmtu on the same day, recording a 1.9% rise.
Fastmarkets' index for manganese ore, 44% Mn, cif Tianjin gained 5 cents week on week to $3.74 per dmtu on Friday - a 1.4% rise on the previous index.
