March Kicks Off with Nonfarm Payrolls, Retail Earnings

Traders-on-Wall-StSeveral retail names, including Target, will close out a wild earnings season

Earnings season is winding down, though a few notable companies are still slated to post their quarterly reports next week, including retailers Target (TGT), Nordstrom (JWN) and Urban Outfitters (URBN). Several marijuana names will also be in the spotlight, including Cronos Group (CRON) and Tilray (TLRY). Meanwhile,jobs data will be on the table, with Friday bringing us the nonfarm payrolls report for February.

Below is a brief list of some key market events and a few high-profile earnings releases scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings and economic dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

On Monday, March. 2, investors will digest the Markit manufacturing PMI, the ISM manufacturing index, data on construction spending. For earnings, reports fromMaxar Technologies (MAXR) and Tilray are on tap.

Weekly crude inventories data and motor vehicle sales for February are due out on Tuesday, March 3, along with earnings reports from AutoZone (AZO), Cronos Group, Kohl's (KSS), Nordstrom, Target, Urban Outfitters, and Veeva Systems (VEEV).

Wednesday, March 4, will bring the ADP employment report, Markit services PMI, the ISM nonmanufacturing index, and the Fed's Beige book. On the earnings docket are reports from Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF), American Eagle (AEO), Bilibili (BILI), Boazun (BZUN), Campbell Soup (CPB), and Dollar Tree (DLTR).

Thursday, March 5, will deliver weekly jobless claims, unit labor costs and productivity data, and factory orders data for January. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries' (OPEC) two-day meeting will also start. American Outdoor Brands (AOBC), Ciena (CIEN), Costco (COST), Kroger (KR), and Plug Power (PLUG) will all step into the earnings confessional.

The end of the week will be busy with data on nonfarm payrolls, the trade deficit, wholesale inventories, and consumer credit all slated for release on Friday, March 6.
