Mexican ferrous scrap market split; participants eye US September settlement trend

Prices for certain ferrous scrap grades in Mexico's steelmaking region of Monterrey rose week on week, while all prices in Baj?-o were unchanged, and market participants held their breath ahead of the United States' domestic scrap market settlement for September.

Fastmarkets' assessment for the steel scrap No1 busheling, consumer buying price, delivered mill Monterrey, was 5,100 pesos per tonne on Tuesday September 3, up by 100 pesos from 5,000 pesos per tonne a week earlier.That increase follows a number of high-volume purchases concluded in the region at higher prices, and not widespread price rises, sources noted.The price assessment for steel scrap cut structural/plate 3ft max, delivered mill Monterrey, also rose by 100...
