Mexican ferrous scrap prices continue to be bolstered by strong demand

Steel scrap prices in Mexico rose again in all regions of the country during the week ended Friday November 6 amid strong demand and limited supply, with special interest from buyers in the obsolete grades like plate and structural scrap, turnings and shredded scrap.

Prices were stronger in Mexico's central Baj?-o region, where buyers in San Luis Potos?- state were avidly seeking material and paying higher prices across all grades.
Fastmarkets includes trades reported in San Luis Potos?- in the Baj?-o consumer buying price weekly assessment, although prices from San Luis Potos?- were roughly 200 pesos above the region's average, several sources said.
But a few scrap traders, who were already selling at higher prices than the market average, noted price stability during the week.

Fastmarkets assessed the steel scrap No1 heavy melt, consumer buying price, delivered mill Baj?-o at 6,550 pesos ($311) per tonne on Tuesday November 10, up by 100 pesos from 6,450 pesos per tonne...
