Mexican ferrous scrap prices continue to rise amid steady demand

Ferrous scrap prices in Mexico's main markets continued to rise in the week ended Friday December 4, with both regions assessed by Fastmarkets registering increases after clients accepted higher offers in order to maintain supply.

Market participants reported price increases in a wide range of 50-600 pesos per tonne ($2-30 per tonne), depending on the customer.
Fastmarkets assessed the steel scrap, No1 busheling, consumer buying price, delivered mill Baj?-o at 7,800 pesos per tonne on December 8, up by 300 pesos from 7,500 pesos per tonne a week earlier and by 2,550 pesos from this year's low of 5,250 pesos per tonne on January 7.
