Mexican ferrous scrap prices flat to higher on low availability

Prices for plate and structural scrap and for No1 busheling increased week on week in the Mexican steelmaking regions of Monterrey and Baj?-o, while other scrap grades remained stable because of reduced material generation and expectations about the April scrap trade in the United States.

Fastmarkets' assessment of the steel scrap No1 heavy melt, consumer buying price, delivered mill Monterrey was unchanged at 5,350 pesos per tonne on Tuesday April 7.
The assessment of the No1 busheling, consumer buying price, delivered mill Monterrey rose to 6,100 pesos per tonne on Tuesday from 5,900 pesos per tonne a week earlier.
Meanwhile, Fastmarkets' assessment of the consumer buying price for No1 heavy melt, delivered mill Bajio was stable at 5,250 pesos per tonne, and that for No1 busheling, delivered mill Bajio rose to 5,950 pesos per tonne from 5,900 pesos per tonne previously.
