Mexico, Canada steel associations call for removal of trade barriers in Nafta renegotiation

Steel industry associations in Mexico and Canada have called on the governments of Mexico, Canada and the United States to eliminate all trade restrictions on steel and aluminium between North American trading partners as part of the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

In a joint statement between the Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA) and Mexico's C??mara Nacional de la Industria del Hierro y del Acero (Canacero) on Wednesday September 5, CSPA president Joseph Galimberti said the Nafta renegotiation "represents an ideal opportunity to eliminate trade barriers on steel and aluminum within the region to fortify key North American supply chains in energy, industrial, building and manufacturing applications"."A Nafta with steel and...
