The chief digital officer at one of the world's biggest mining equipment manufacturing companies says mineral processing plant operators have "barely scratched the surface" of data use to improve the productivity of assets and could achieve yield advances of up to 25% without big capital investments in the near future.
"Those who can achieve this productivity leap could potentially even change their relative position on the entire industry cost curve," said Metso Corporation's Jani Puroranta in an interview after the release of results of Mining Journal/Mining Magazine Future of Mining asset management survey of leading global miners.
