Jared Atkinson, a PhD student in geophysics and researcher in the Center for Space Resources at Colorado School of Mines, was recently interviewed by NBC News about a study he co-authored on mining water on the moon, for an article about NASA's plans to build a moon-orbiting space station and permanent lunar base.

From the article:

Scientists know the ice is there, but they aren't sure how much.

"You can tell there's water there, but you can't tell how deep or easy to access it is," said Jared Atkinson, a graduate student in geophysics at the Colorado School of Mines.
