MINING INDABA 2018: Chinese New Year won't break manganese ore, chrome rallies - producers

Manganese ore, chrome ore and ferro-chrome prices will stand firm over the Lunar New Year holiday amid comparatively strong seasonal demand and the appreciation of the South African rand, producers of those commodities predicted at Mining Indaba this week.

South African UG2 chrome ore prices have staged the strongest recovery among the three commodities over the past month, up 16.6%, while charge chrome is up 12.1%. Metal Bulletin's 37% and 44% manganese ore indices are up 6.9% and 5.2% respectively over the same one-month period. 'I don't think Chinese New Year [February 15-21]...
